PROJECT INFORMATION
     Project “Feasibility study for the sustainable development of Samui Island” is initiated by Environmental Engineering Consultants Co.,Ltd (EEC) and is co-sponsored by EC-ASEAN Energy Facility (EAEF).

     Main objective of the project is to identify most suitable solutions for energy supply management, solid waste management, wastewater management, and water supply management in order to foster the
sustainable development of Samui Island. With new approaches of studying, innovative visions and co-operation from Thailand’s participated agencies and European partners, the project outcome will directly benefit Samui Island and will, hopefully, be as a sustainable development model for other islands in ASEAN.
     โครงการศึกษาความเป็นไปได้ในการพัฒนาสมุยแบบยั่งยืน ริเริ่มขึ้นโดยบริษัทเอ็นไวรอนเมนตอล เอ็นจิเนียริ่ง คอนซัลแตนส์ จำกัด (อีอีซี) ร่วมกับ EC-ASEAN Energy Facility (EAEF) วัตถุประสงค์หลักของโครงการคือการเสนอแนะทางเลือกที่เหมาะสมในด้านการจัดการพลังงาน, ขยะ, น้ำเสีย และแหล่งน้ำ เพื่อให้เกิดการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืนต่อไป ด้วยแนวทางและมุมมองใหม่ๆ รวมไปถึงความร่วมมือทั้งจากหน่วยงานในประเทศไทย และจากยุโรป ส่งผลให้ผลการศึกษาจากโครงการนี้เป็นประโยชน์โดยตรงต่อเกาะสมุย และหวังเป็นอย่างยิ่งว่าจะใช้เป็นต้นแบบในการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืนสำหรับเกาะอื่นๆในแถบเอเชียต่อไป
     โครงการนี้มีระยะเวลาดำเนินงาน 18 เดือน เริ่มจากเดือนมีนาคม 2548 ไปสิ้นสุดเดือนสิงหาคม 2549 ซึ่งดำเนินงานโดยคณะทำงาน (AT) อันประกอบไปด้วยวิศวกรจากบริษัท อีอีซี และผู้ร่วมงานชาวยุโรป ภายใต้คำแนะนำของคณะกรรมการที่ปรึกษาโครงการ (PAC) ซึ่งประกอบไปด้วยตัวแทนจากหน่วยงานหลักที่มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องโดยตรงต่อเกาะสมุย เช่น เทศบาลตำบลเกาะสมุย, การไฟฟ้าส่วนภูมิภาค, การประปาส่วนภูมิภาค, สำนักนโยบายและแผนทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อม, บริษัท ปตท.จำกัด เป็นต้น

The 2nd PAC meeting was held on Februaryt 9, 2006 at Central Samui Beach Resort.

The 3rd PAC meeting was held on August 27, 2006 at Central Samui Beach Resort.
