2.

Action Team presents the basic information of Samui Island, which came from the survey during April 28, 2005 – August 3, 2005. The information includes;
  • Existing electricity supply system
  • Existing water supply system
  • Information from existing municipal solid waste incineration plant
  • Existing wastewater treatment facilities
  • Existing registered population for each sub-district in Samui Island
3.

Action Team presents the concept of establishing Compacted mixed used Node (CN) and Green Integrated Utility System (GIUS) to serve the community.

Concepts for CN:

  • CN will be located near the existing communities.
  • CN will be a new development area where all people-needed facilities are built together to serve new comers of the community.
  • CN will be designed for effectively use of power and natural resources.
  • CN will be designed so that it can be sustained by itself in term of energy usage and pollution management.
  • CN will be environmental friendly.

Concepts for GIUS:

  • GIUS will be an area where all community-support utilities are built together.
  • GIUS will be designed to provide services to the existing near-by community and a newly built CN.
  • GIUS will be designed to receive solid waste and food waste from the existing near-by community and a newly built CN and divert them to energy.
  • The following topics will also be studied for integration into the GIUS
    • District cooling and District heating using COGEN system
    • Other renewable energy technologies
    • Lower cost electricity power generation

Action Team expects that CN and GIUS concept will help promoting effectively use of energy and natural resources, which, as a chain result, support the sustainable development of Samui Island.

4.

Action Team briefly presents related Renewable Energy and Clean Energy technologies to be studied.

  • Utilizing coconut, a major agriculture product and a symbol of Samui Island, usages to improve the value of coconut.

6.

Project Advisory Committee suggests Action Team to select one suitable site for CN and GIUS in order to set up detailed study. According to the survey, the suitable shall be Chawaeng community.

7.

Action Team will take all suggestions from Project Advisory Committee to proceed in the next step.
